Hi Guys,
It is Dec. 31, 2009; 10:00 p.m. Getting ready for AZ to turn into 2010 in a few. Weird, the other side of the country is already in 2010; I am still waiting.
I really think that all this global warming is a bunch of hoo-ha. I think people should recycle, of course, but it is definitely a cash cow for Al Gore!
The globe spins and tilts. It happens every now and again; in the mean time the moon is getting closer to us to. The say one day it is supposed to smack right into us. What can you do?
Good luck in the New Year.
Thank you,
Lara

CC2 unit 7: 3 questions and a look see
Hi All,
I have not posted for about a week!
Things have been going on, and I am sick. Not serious sick; just a bothersome cold that makes me want to nap all the time. My nose is chapped from blowing it all the time too, ouch!
I hope you all had a happy Christmas, and are going to have a good New Year too. I made sure one thing was going to be better for me. I consolidated all my debts. I will now be out of debt in less than three years, or even less time if I can help it. I get my new mortgage in about a week, my modification, that took me all year to do on top of everything else. I guess what I am saying is I am not going to let these companies push me around anymore. But I did it legally, and without bankruptcy. It was hard to do for sure, but worth it!!!
On to unit 7.
Q1. I personally hate doing it, peer reviews. I feel like anyone who has enough gumption to even turn in a paper should get credit. I know it has to be collegiate and professional; however, I am not a professional. I do not have the right to evaluate an others' work.
Q2. In my paper my Ah Ha was when I realized the name of my paper. Thallium is a necessary evil. They need it to look for cancer; it is in the equipment lens. They give it to patients to follow the route of the thallium and find a cancerous cell or cells. Then the people that have access to it can do other things with it. It would be another paper to find out their clearances for access.
Q3. That the element thallium is still available. It lies in between mercury and lead, which are both illegal to put in a human body, yet they still use thallium. I do not get it. They say it is safe in a small amount. How safe is a small amount, what is a small amount? You are talking about a poisonous heavy metal. I would not put that in my body!!
Thank you, Happy New Year.

CC2 unit 6
Good Morning,
I feel like a one legged woman in a butt kicking contest. In other words, I am running in circle's; trying to get everything taken care of before the end of the year. I am actually getting there, go figure.
This is the first time I have ever posted so late in DB, I figured that I am doing double duty this week; I can afford a little extra time. I am doing my post for DB unit 7 on top of this one so...
Well on to work, see you guy's in DB and then again in school next year.
Thank you all,
Lara

Hi you guys,
I am kind of down in the dumps today, missing Rodger. I received a sympathy card from the Vet. Just re-opened the sadness; it was very nice though.
I am working on my paper. I may not have my DB in today because I have such a weird topic. I need to get it order. I am going to sign off quick today, just wanted to say hey! :-) ...
Thank you,
Lara

Hi Everyone,
I am just checking in today. I have so much to do in both classes. I am really going to take advantage of the time off. Even though it really isn't for us. Meaning that assignments are still due. I just keep thinking about Jan. 7, 2009. That was my first day of school. So, one year down for me in a couple of weeks. I cannot wait to graduate. It seems like it is going fast; then it seems like it is dragging on and on. I guess I am just impatient.
Well, talk to you later. I have a lot of things to do.
Thank you,
Lara

CC2 unit 6 Q.2
Hey Gang,
School starts in an hour so this is a quick one. I have been busy all day trying to do one of those debt consolidations. I have it done, I just want to make sure I have everything I need to put in it, in it. If it is true, it will be a big, big help!
On to the question.
I have done these, formal papers in school, in almost every class it seems. In this class I was able to choose my own topic. The thing is, I chose a topic that takes a lot of investigating; I love that word! I will not even know all the answers by the time this unit is done, because no one else dose either. This is an unknown topic. What I mean is, it is not as if we know what to do about this substance, thallium. It is still used legally; however, people use it illegally to kill people. There is no conclusion.
We know Lincoln was shot; that is true and a conclusion. But did you know he was buried 10 times? It is one of my favorite stories. I wish I could do a paper on that.
Well, take care and see you in class in about half an hour.
p.s. I am doing a little better today, Rodger wise.

CC2 unit 6, here we go...
Hola!
Well, on to the outline now. From what I have read in DB, all of us may have a chance of doing it correctly. :-)... It is actually just an organizational tool, in my eyes anyway.
I am getting a little bit better from the loss of Rodger; I am still kind of numb though.
Question # 1.
I think you can see how my last week of school went. I am a basket case about Rodger. Other than that, it has been smooth sailing except for the quiz. I am such a horrible test taker.
I will get it all together though, I have to. You know why, I get really mad at myself when I mess up. That is not a good thing when you are already depressed about a big thing. I just need to have a big giant cup of "Get a Grip" tea. Have you guys ever heard of "The Republic of Tea"? I by all of my tea from them. I have gobs of it, and one is called that.
I am actually going to see if I can get a job helping someone take care of their twins in the morning. That will take my mind off of other stuff for sure.
Well, I have to go get ready now. See you guys tomorrow.
Thank you very much,
Lara

CC2 unit 5, end of week
Hey Everyone,
I lost the fight yesterday with Rodger. He collapsed, and that was it. I am so sick to my stomach about it; I can hardly think. I feel like giving up to. Rodger never left my side; I could not even go pee without him making sure I was going to come out of the bathroom okay. How am I going to go tho the bathroom now? I have to make it seem funny to just get by. I do not know what to do? He was a big golden retriever. I am going to get another dog. Rodger was my best friend and I had to sign the paper to say you have my permission to kill him. I am sad. I know he was so sick, I saw his blood work and x-rays, he needed a blood transfusions, probably surgery, and more than likely to no avail. I believe he had a bleeding tumor. Well, I always move ahead, I have too.
I will see you guys in class on Thurs.
By the way, I did lousy on the quiz! I think that 20 minutes is WAY to stressful. Maybe that is the point. To see if you can handle it. I cannot, I am a very stressed out test taker. I could study for a year, and still get things wrong.
Thank you,
Lara

CC2 unit 5 Q. #3
Beunos Dias!
I want to learn Spanish after this school. As soon as I can, I am going to get the Rosetta Stone second language course. I have looked into it; It is expensive. I just figure that knowing Spanish in my neck of the woods could only help. I cannot go any where in Havasu without hearing it. I think at least, if not more, a quarter of the population is Spanish. In fact my sons girlfriend is Mexican.
I finally took my dog to the doctor yesterday. He has some kind of infection in his sinuses and lungs. They gave him a big penicillin shot with an electrolyte drip, and gave me about two weeks worth of pain and amoxicillin pills to get rid of it. He has a high temp. too. I guess the best way to put it is doggie flu. :-( ...
Now to question #3.
The influence that I am seeing is that an education really shows. I know now that I was just writing before. According to the terms of the school, I'll bet I was plagiarising all over the place before and not realizing it. As far as the medical part, I think it is neat that when I go to a doctor now I can, almost, understand what they are saying. And I am able to see things at home before I really need to go, no panic mode anymore. I use to just sit there like a lump and believe everything I was told. They're the doctor sort of attitude. As far as math goes, I can see how it will help me to change what is needed for the best results of my business. I intend to have a home office for my Medical Transcribing; math will definitely help me to keep the monetary end of it in order; not to mention the office in a systematic working area. I think it called ergonomics.
Thank you all, see you later.

CC2 unit 5 Q. #2
Another day in LHC, AZ,
I am busy today with school! I had some things that I had to take of before the weekend, so it is catch up time. I hope you guys will have a nice weekend.
It is so cold here, to me anyway, 38 degrees this morning. You guys probably think that is warm. It gets up to about 59 degrees today. It is because we are still all rainy and cloudy out. Usually it would be in the mid 70's or low 80's.
On to school now.
I can tell you exactly what the challenge is with me in this school. It is not the work; I love to learn. It is the finance department. I was blocked from getting into this term because they could not find my paperwork. They finally found it, and unblocked me. I think the day before we started. Well, they are at it again. That was what I meant about having to get some stuff done before the weekend. I finally called Ginger Cameron, she is a Dean of Students for Health Sciences. She is looking into it for me. The finance dept. lost all my paperwork, again, and called me yesterday and threatened to block me out, again, because the cannot find their money and my loan, NICE!! They know more about me than I do, they have so much paperwork on me. I am even paying on my loan, what little I can, so I do not have shell shock after graduation. Other than that, I have no problems at all.
See you guys tomorrow...
Thank you,
Lara

CC2 unit 5 Q. #1
Hi you Guys,
I had the best news today. I have been working my buns off getting a re-modified mortgage for the last year. I cannot tell you how many people try to stop you in your tracks, and do not want to help you. What you hear on T.V. is just a lie. I went straight to my bank and said either you do this or you have another house on your hands. After non-stop calling (on top of school) I finally was given the number to the Vice President. I called and called, and then she actually answered her phone! She could not believe that I had been put aside (for 8 months) like that; I had my paper work and my own processor in two weeks. I have now been on a four month trial period with my new payment. Because I have never missed a payment since I built the house, I am considered true blue. I found out today they sent me my new mortgage yesterday! I finally won. I cannot believe it! Boyd, my husband, told me only 4.3% of everyone that has tried to do this has actually been helped; that is sickening!
Anyway, on to school.
After class last night, and reading it over again, I fit right into the free writing and brainstorming category. My mind goes a million miles an hour when I am thinking about stuff, and I write really fast. Then I go back and TRY to read what I wrote; then I make the list thing. I guess maybe even an informal outline too. All I know is that when I go to write my formal paper I use every aspect of my informal notes. I do not do graphs. I do not have the time for that. I like graphs in math. That is so fun. How everything meets up. I love math, I hate algebra! It should be against the law. Why don't they just say what it is? I can figure it out, but it is such a dumb waste of time. I like school all together, just not algebra.
Thanks you guys,
Lara

Hi Guys,
I missed yesterdays post, I thought my dog was getting better, but he is not. I am very scared. Today is his B-Day. He is 9. I think I am going to have to take him to a doctor. I am just so broke, and vets are so expensive.
I will get back to you with the question #1. I think I have a technique, but I need to pick. :-)...
I like some over the others.
See you in school.
Thank you,
Lara

CC2 unit 4: Q.#3
Up and At 'Em!
It did ran cat and dogs yesterday. We also get really windy here; some of my shingles are missing. I had to put out some buckets for a leaky roof. As I said, it rains so little that I know where to put them before it really starts to come down.
I like to watch The Investigators this early in the morning; this morning is an investigation on thallium poisoning. What a co-winkydink! I have seen it before, the neighbor that poisoned the people next door. He put it in their coke sitting on their back porch. The mom died, and the rest of the family took a very long time to recover. He started out by testing it on their dogs; they both died. This guy belonged to Mensa and was a chemist. Scary!
Question 4 is up. I think that this goes without saying the these sites blur lines of ownership. I have seen on Wikipedias site, at the begining, they will not publish original transcripts. It is an "opinion" site. That is why it is not considered reliable. People take from what was an original transcript and add there in-put or thoughts. I would think you would be hard pressed to find the original on a site like this. You will never know what you will get. As for the leagally owened, you can be sure that they have a entire "plagiarism law and loopholes to jump through" handbook so they cannot be sued.
Off to take my test for unit 4 then on to unit 5. Half way through already, wow!
Thank you,
Lara

CC2 unit 4; Q. # 3
Hi All,
Pearl Harbor Day! Hello WW2...
This is a weird morning in Havasu indeed. We are supposed to be getting a ton of rain. I do not know if you guys watch the Weather Chanel, but the whole South West coast is getting wet. That is common in So. Cal., but it rarely makes its way to my little world. If I can explain, Lake Havasu is the little indent on the left side of the AZ map. If you look at an AZ map, just about smack in the middle, left side, is an indent; that is Havasu. We are surrounded by mountains, and that is why we never get much weather here. It just kind of goes around us.
On to school now. When I read this question the very first thing that came to my mind was when the band Coldplay was accused of copyright infringements (plagiarism) of a Joe Satriani song he had written. I read a little bit about it, and Satriani is suing Coldplay for this. It is, as far as I can tell, still in the court system. I have heard both bands, and I think I would have to agree with Satriani. Especially because the lead singer of Coldplay, Chris Martin, actually said:
" We're definitely good, but I don't think you can say we're that original. I regard us as being incredibly good plagiarists" (Permalink, nd). The problem that this is causing is a "prove it" issue; there are only so many cords on a guitar. It is the who says I did not write this sort of argument. I bet if you hear the two you would agree with me; however, it will now be up to the courts.
Thank you,
Lara

CC2 unit 4 blog: Q. #2
Morning everyone,
I managed to get my dogs temperature down, YEA! Now the antibiotics that my mother-in-law gave me, Orbek, will start to kick in and get rid of Rodgers infection. It is the Amoxicillin for dogs. I was lucky she had some; I cannot afford to take him to the doctor. Wish me luck with him.
On to school. As for question number 2, I kind of talked about that already. The person who copied me in DB. Well, I knew the teacher saw that; however, if someone did that to a paper or anything else that I had written I would first of all talk to an authority, or person who I had given it to with my permission to read or print it. Then with this or these people and I would confront the plagiarist. I would not do it alone, because they could just say it was their work. Always make sure you date, if need be time stamp, your work. Prevention first is best; if you have to take care of something like this do it in an organized manner.
Thank you,
Lara

Good evening everyone,
I really have not had the time to answer a question today. My dog, Rodger, has pneumonia. I have been kind of busy with him today. We gave him a bath about three days ago, he is a big furry golden retriever, and the temperature dropped like thirty degrees! As far a s we can figure his undercoat was still wet and he caught a cold . My dogs are not outside dogs. They are part of my family; it is just that we are used to really warm weather. This is strange, the cold I mean.
You guys have a nice night; I will get back to the questions for blog in the manana, with my DB post.
Have you noticed that morning in Spanish would be banana in English if you replaced the m? Sleep on it. :-)...
Thank you,
Lara

unit 4 blog: # 1, CC2
Hi Gang,
I have decided since I try to post every day I will answer one of the four questions in blog posed to us this unit; each day I post to my blog.
The first question is about the importance of citing your work; it is the utmost. I cannot stress enough on the fact that you are NOT ALOUD to take some other persons thoughts, and use them as your own. You just cannot do that. The only people that could actually do that are completely lazy, and have no morals or ethics what so ever; there is no evidence of a conscious. Someone did that to me in one of the DB's that I had posted. They copied me almost verbatim because, I believe, they were running late for their post to be in on time. I did not call them on it because the teacher could see it. It was in the DISCUSSION board! If I remember correctly, she did say something to the student. Another time, a student copied and pasted straight from Google into the DB. This time I said flat out "Where did you get this information"? This student could not spell the word "the", and the post was in APA college format. I new it was a blatant act of plagiarism. The teacher called the student on it right off too. That made me mad. I am "earning" my degree, and this person is trying to slide by. Bad form!
I am now going to go work on school work, do some laundry, and make burgers for the BBQ tonight, and clean my fish tanks. I have three ...
Thank you very much,
Lara

Seminar 4
Good Morning,
I could not figure out what I was doing wrong in unit 3. I kept asking the teacher why my posts were not showing up? I did not sleep a wink last night, I new I would not when I saw that zero in grade book. I finally gave up, and got up at 3 am to figure out what I was doing wrong. I believe I have. I hope this will correct it!
Back to school now. We have seminar again tonight. I see that we will be talking about plagiarism this unit. I always try to give credit where credit is due. I do not want to take the credit for anything that is not my work. The one thing I do remember from CC1 is the fact that you do not have to cite common knowledge. That is why sometimes when we are doing an assignment on a paper that we are all reading for class, I do not cite it. We have all read the same thing. I ask the teacher if I need to; so far she has told me no, it is fine.
Well, I am going to study for class. See you tonight. :-)...
Thank you,
Lara

Hi Everyone!
I hope you have a great holiday. I will miss you all on Thursday, but you will be busy stuffing your faces anyway. Yummmmm! I hope you all have a safe one; especially if you have to travel. I am actually staying here and going to work on school. I am going to take advantage of the no seminar time off. I am also making a turkey on my BBQ. My oven broke. I am looking at it as a challenge. It will be fun!
I will see you next time around.
Thank you,
Lara

Hi Guys,
It is now 11- 28-'09. I think I am getting it, blogging.
I have been searching all day on my subject for the final. It is on poison, and you have to word it very specificly to get the right answer. I think I found some good info.
The school is okay I guess; it is just so broad. I cannot seem to get to the point in Academic Search Premier. I am not concerned about Thallium poisoning in a rat. I know the school want's you to use their library; however, I think they need to learn the dewy decimal system. It is to haphazzard. You search forEVER!
See you later,
Lara ;-)...

Hi Classmates,
Well, let's see; it is another day. I did answer my DB. I was not negelecting my post; I just wanted to make sure that I had the right information. Thallium poisoning information is quite a tall order; I have found out.
I am now on my way to making homemade mac and cheese on my BBQ. See you guys tomorrow!
Thank you,
Lara

It is also my wedding aniversary, Dec. 25.

Howdy,
Well, another week done. Day one of December. My, how time just keeps on ticking along. You think, man when is this ever going to be done. Then you think when do we start; let's get this over with! I sure hope you all are doing okay so far in school. I am kind of getting overwhelmed. The longer I have been in school, the harder it gets! I think I need an IQ test.
Have a great night.

Hi Class,
I just received a zero for not posting in my blog; even though I post every day. I guess the school cannot find my post or something. I do not know how to make them appear in order. I have asked around, and knowone else seems to know including the teacher. She said so, to me.
I hope this gets corrected. I am very upset about this!! I hope this did not happen to you guys.
See you in class.
